Day 01-02 Kathmandu
With its spacious town squares, winding alleyways and striking traditional architecture, Bhaktapur makes for a lovely introduction to Nepal. The following morning, weather permitting, perhaps head out on a scenic flight through the mountains of Sagarmartha National Park, among the highest in the world, including the mighty Mt Everest. Explore Kathmandu's Old Town on an organised sightseeing tour that goes to Durbar Square and some of the country's most famous stupas – Pashupatinath and Bodhnath.
Day 03-04: Pokhara
Catch an early flight to Pokhara; a popular launching pad for trekking trips. Nestled by a large lake and backed by the soaring Annapurna range, this lively little town boasts plenty of attractions in itself. Take a boat ride across the lake for superb views of snow-capped peaks, visit the Peace Pagoda or pop in to the International Mountain Museum. The following day is free for you to partake in whatever activity takes your fancy.
Day 05-06: Bandipur
Rise early for a morning drive to the traditional Nepalese settlement of Bandipur. Still housing traditional Newari homes with carved wooden windows and slate roofs, this delightful mountain town has somehow managed to withstand the effects of tourist development. Take in the views and explore this incredible settlement while witnessing the workings of a traditional Newari village.
Day 07-08: Chitwan National Park
Head to Chitwan National Park and get to know the wildlife of the region. Perhaps explore a native elephant camp and spend some time with these jungle giants. Search for Indian rhinos, deer and exotic birdlife in the park and, if you're really lucky, perhaps spot a tiger. Afterwards, watch the Tharu dance troupe perform a cultural program before a tasty dinner. The following morning, hit the Rapti River in a canoe to see marsh mugger crocodiles before jumping into a jeep and exploring a nearby village.
Day 09: Bhaktapur
Travel to the former capital of Nepal, Bhaktapur. Spend some time meandering the streets and temples of this quaint town, making sure to explore the 15th-century palace and five-story pagoda at Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Don’t forget to sample juju dhau, a sweet, custard-like yoghurt that's the region's specialty.
Day 10: Kathmandu
Get to know Bhaktapur further before returning to Kathmandu in the late afternoon for a final group dinner.
